My Training
The Level 5 Diploma in Reflexology course covers in depth Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology and many specialist subjects adapting reflexology for different stages in life including puberty, enhancing fertility, maternity care and menopause as well as supporting clients with life-limiting and long term chronic illnesses.
In addition I have completed specialist training in:
I am also trained in Indian head massage. Some clients enjoy a stand alone Indian head massage but clients looking for deep relaxation often choose a combined reflexology and Indian head massage treatment.
I am currently studying for a Diploma in Aromatherapy and I am looking forward to being able to offer prescriptive aromatherapy treatments.
For many years, I worked as a Health and Safety Manager for a large, global company. I found reflexology whilst looking for ways to support my own wellbeing whilst managing a demanding job and a busy family life. I always found the treatments to be incredibly relaxing and calming and a great stress reliever. I was so convinced about the power of reflexology, I decided to train as a reflexologist to enable me to share this wonderful practice with others. I can now honestly say 'I love my job!'
I am a trustee of the Macclesfield Cancer Help Centre charity, where I am also a volunteer reflexologist.
I am passionate about environmental sustainability and I only use vegan and environmentally friendly products in my practice.
Practiced for thousands of years, reflexology is a natural, non-invasive, complementary touch therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, hands, face and ears correspond with different areas of the body. When reflexologists work these points by gently applying pressure using various finger/thumb/knuckle techniques, your nervous system becomes activated, enabling energy to flow more freely throughout the body, like electricity going through a house. This process of boosting circulation stimulates the body’s own innate healing capacities and leaves you feeling deeply relaxed. Reflexology is suitable for everybody from new born babies to the elderly.

Before your first treatment we will complete a consultation and agree the best reflexology treatment plan for you. This first session lasts between 75 and 90 minutes depending on the circumstances. The consultation can also be completed virtually prior to treatment.
Mind
Reflexology stimulates the brain’s central nervous system, taking you out of a “fight or flight” state and into “rest and digest” mode, consequently releasing the inner tension that has built up over time. Life can be stressful and stress acts a major risk factor for both physical and mental illness. Reflexology is an extremely relaxing treatment where you can lie back and let your troubles float away, with regular treatments helping to ease stress and anxiety, along with facilitating more restful sleep.
Body
A well trained reflexologist will never claim to cure or diagnose any specific conditions and reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. However, the theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally and improve general wellbeing.
Bringing Balance to your Mind & Body
I adapt my treatments to suit your precise needs, providing a treatment that restores your mind and body to a state of homeostasis. I understand the importance of keeping yourself in balance for maintaining good mental and physical health.
For more information how I work as a reflexologist in Altrincham and surrounding area, please give me a call or take a look at my Treatment Details page.
The Association of Reflexologists state that well trained reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. Many people find it works for them, some don’t and the best way to find out is to give it a try!
The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. After a treatment your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving; however, this happens on an individual basis.
Please note reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
Depending on your needs a course of six regular treatments may be recommended, as this gives us the best chance of making a difference. However, if you are seeking reflexology as a preventative treatment, a visit once every month or so might be all you need. You can also just come for a one-off treatment as a way of giving yourself a treat to help you relax, restore and rejuvenate at times of high stress.
Please visit my Treatment Details page for a full breakdown of treatment pricing.
Most foot reflexology treatments last 60 mins but this may be longer or shorter depending on your personal needs and your individual treatment plan. Hand treatments are usually around 30 mins.
You might feel a bit of sensitivity during a treatment, but this will not last for long. Treatments should never be painful. If you are in discomfort at any time during a treatment please let me know and I can adapt the treatment accordingly.
Treatments may not be suitable for people with some conditions such as thrombosis, unstable heart conditions, high/low blood pressure, or any contagious disease/virus. If you have any of these conditions or another chronic condition, please consult with your doctor before having reflexology.
Most people feel very relaxed after a reflexology treatment, however, sometimes people may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is usually transitory and reflexologists believe that it is part of the healing process. It is important to give feedback to the reflexologist as this may show the response of your body to treatment and will help the reflexologist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
Both treatments are non-invasive and clients can remain fully dressed during the treatment apart from removing shoes and socks for foot reflexology. You may prefer to wear comfortable clothing for the treatment.
If you book a mobile treatment I will bring all necessary equipment with me to your premises, with treatment taking place in my reclining, zero gravity Lafuma chair. However, you may prefer to have the treatment on your own reclining chair or bed if you are not mobile.
